Cosmos

Cosmos Plant Features

No cottage garden is complete without cosmos. These delightful, easy-care, annual flowers develop daisy-like rose, white, or pink flowers all summer long. Double-flowering orange or yellow flowering varieties of cosmos are also available. The pretty blooms are held on wiry stems that dance on the wind. Cosmos grow 15 to 36 inches tall, depending on variety, so they are ideal for the middle of an annual flower border or cutting garden. Butterflies are also partial to the nectar-rich flowers of cosmos.

Cosmos Growing Instructions

Plant cosmos in a sunny spot that receives at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sun a day. It's not fussy about soil type, but does prefer a rich, well-drained soil. Cosmos prefers life on the dry side and may grow too tall and flop over if watered too frequently. Remove the flowers as they fade to keep the plants tidy and to encourage new blooms. Shorter varieties of cosmos also work well in mixed containers. Cosmos will occasionally reseed itself.

Cosmos is not intended for human or animal consumption.
