Basil Growing Instructions

Plant basil in a sunny spot that receives at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sun a day. Basil does best in a rich, well-drained soil. If you are growing basil in containers use a commercial potting mix to keep your plants in top form. Water the plants whenever the soil surface feels dry to the touch. If your plant starts to grow too leggy, pinch it back to encourage more compact growth. Basil is an annual herb that is frost tender, so in the fall harvest your entire plant before cold weather strikes.
